Design, and how technology manifests through design, mediates our interactions with the world — but despite their democratising potential, marginalised communities continue to be at a disadvantage when it comes to using these tools for their development. This was the motivation for my founding Design Beku in 2018, and in 2019, I was thrilled to be joined by like-minded colleagues who believed in me and values that the collective stands for. We have already worked with some exciting ideas and people, and look forward to many more. If you’d like to understand more about our guiding principles, look no further than the Design Justice Network, an organisation with whom our intentions are aligned.
